There are times when I think that I have heard the craziest thing and that nothing will top it but then someone comes along and breaks that record. Yesterday I was working at waffle cones and I was on a role. I was working double time while drinking coffee like a fish out of water. I swear it was crazy and super-hot. For a few hours I was on a nonstop train and I finally had a time to take a real break and get some water. I was feeling the headache and I needed to rehydrate. So I do my business and get everything I need and take the time to cool off. When you work at waffle cones it takes a toll on you. You have to focus, get the weights right, restock, make more mix, time everything right, help customers and keep your station clean. Its nuts but fun.
So once I get myself together, wash my hands, and stretch I get back to the grind. But first I restock my mix and work on my station. I make sure everything is together and then I put on those awful gloves. It takes a bit but eventually I am set. Once I get into the grind the phone rings and Dancer answers it. He walks off and goes to the fudge all the while talking about the amount of coco in our fudge slices. He walks back to the kitchen listening and talking. It was hard to tell what they were talking about but it seemed to be a situation that was baffling him.
He hangs up the phone and walks to the ice cream case and helps out some customers waiting. He gets a waffle cone and goes "That Lady on the phone just let her dog eat a pound of Turtle Fudge"
Oh my god.
Our Signature Turtle fudge is chocolate base fudge, with caramel and pecans throughout. Ya'll each slice is a half a pound and it is rich. Very rich. I swear I felt myself take a moment to think about that. She let her dog eat a pound of fudge. Dogs can’t have chocolate and I’m sure they can’t have certain kinds of nuts. I just hope that lady got her pet to the emergency vet right away because that dog is about to have a serious stomach ache.
People really do amaze me and dumbfound me with what they do.
