Those left behind

I think there are plenty of kids who never have the death conversation with their parents. Either because the parents think they can't handle it or because the kids never think their parents could die at any time. Personally I think it's a mistake when you don't have that conversation. Especially when you have a good relationship with your kid or kids.

I'm not gonna lie, the thought of loosing my dad is terrifying and not easy to face but I still know that the possibility is there and that he could die at any point and time. After all, the world is not kind and not everyone and everything goes with your plans.

So I grew up always having some idea of what my father would want when he does die. I always had that conversation and we always found ways to have a good laugh while doing it. It honestly has made things quite interesting and our relationship close. We've talked about all scenarios, all ideas .and of course what to do when he does pass.

Of course I hate the idea of having to put my father to rest, let alone even think about him being gone but I know that the possibility is there and that it will come at some point. I will have to face it and I will have to make the arrangements. Of course there will be no fighting over what to do .there will be no other kin but me so it makes things quite easy when to comes to the process.

So I do suggest having that talk with your kids if you haven't had it yet. Personally I think it has made the whole thing slightly easier because I already know what to do and I know how it will mostly go down. If it lessens the burdens on those who will be left behind, I think it's worth having the conversation
