Empowerment

I think one of the things that is so empowering is the ability to travel alone. Taking this week long trip to three different states, outdoor climbing, seeing my mom along with my best friend was a refresher that I needed. Quite literally. Just driving along, listening to a podcast or music and just having that time to really connect with yourself is so soothing. Not only does it help reset the mind but it also helps with you being able to get away from the everyday drama that we all encounter. I got to hangout with people I haven't seen in years and make new friends that I plan to go climbing with in the future.

When I was in a relationship I couldn't really go anywhere without him freaking out, thinking that something was always going to happen. Always. It didn't matter how experienced I was and it didn't matter if I knew the people I was seeing were my friends, all that was in his mind was that I was a women and that I was in danger wherever I went. If I didn't talk to him everyday he was always worried and If I didn't invite him to every little trip I did then I was in the wrong for wanting time alone.

Honestly it was suffocating and I felt like I Had to invite him to everything just to make him happy, even if it meant that my happiness was compromised. So for me to take this trip after everything that happened and after all those months of feeling suffocated I finally felt free again. I felt like I could breathe. I felt like I could finally be myself and do what I wanted to and not have to worry about someone breathing on the back of my neck. Sometimes taking solo trips is what you need to remind yourself that not only are you capable of anything and everything but that you also are worth the time to give yourself love.
