Jurassic World and Jurassic Park

As a kid I grew up watching a lot of really good movies. Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek, Aliens, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, and so much more. Of course I didn’t just grow up watching any normal movies. I grew up watching the extended addition or the director’s cut. So I was always watching the three to four hour movies and it always gave me insight and background that other people missed out on. So I always grew up knowing the classics and even though there were very few movies that I didn’t like from my Dad's collecting, I will say that I haven’t seen all of them. There have been a few where I didn’t understand the movie, or where I thought it was boring to watch by myself. But I feel like everyone has those movies that you just don’t get.

For me though I really did like a lot of the classics and one of my favorites is the one and only, Jurassic Park. The movie is quite stunning and for its time it was unmatched. The animation was really well done, the actors were all great choices, and of course I thought that the story line mixed with the soundtrack was top notch. Now as an adult I just love watching them and comparing them to the series, Jurassic World. Of course the animation is way better, and its been tweaked here and there. There now talking about making new breeds of dinosaurs and using them for war and so on and so on. So as true fans of the original my father and I have seen both of the Jurassic World movies in theaters.

(spoilers ahead so stop reading if you haven’t seen it)

This latest movie was quite the treat. See in the Jurassic Park movies they play it out pretty well and I personally like all three of them. They go from making dinosaurs, to taking them to the mainland, to then stupid people wanting to go back to the island and of course getting eaten and learning their lesson. When they made Jurassic World I was a little concerned about how they were going to do these movies. I didn’t want it to just be another complete repeat and I was really surprised by how much stuff they added to these movies. They really did quite a wonderful job upscaling the idea. With the second Jurassic World I was quite surprised by the number of times the movie surprised me.

I was really drawn in by the animation and I really think that they did as close to a perfect job as they could. The only issue I had was a few perspective shots that seemed out of place and I noticed it but it wasn’t too bad that I felt like it ruined the movie. Of course there was a part at the end that I felt like could have been redone but its just me being picky. In the first Jurassic World movie Blue and T-Rex help beat the new dinosaur Indominus Rex and I will admit that I thought that scene was quite epic. I really enjoyed the way things went down and the twist with Monasaur eating The Indominus Rex. That was quite celebrated and I got really into the movie. In Jurassic World 2 they have blue finish off The dinosaur they created, the Indoraptor. It was still pretty epic but I felt like they could have done a little bit better and had someone else finish off the dinosaur. It felt reused and it threw me off a bit but with the way the Indoraptor died (by being pierced by horns) I let it slide.

If you haven’t seen the new Jurassic World movie I would consider seeing it. I thought it was quite fantastic and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Overall a very wonderful movie and I know I will be watching it again when we have it one DVD.

If you have seen it already, what were your thoughts?
