Cable

I don’t really watch cable anymore. I think it grew to be a nuisance for me more than anything. For me it became more real when Netflix started. Everybody thought it would die out in a few years and vanish. That we would be sitting around watching holograms and Netflix would be an "old" invention. When it first came out it had decent movies on it. Now it has movies that I didn’t know existed and movies that just aren’t that interesting to me. They really lowered the quality so of course that meant Hulu was my backup. They had some TV shows that were decent and you could pass the time by watching them. There are even a few selections that Netflix doesn’t have yet.

It really became one of those things where having a tv meant that I was on some kind of console watching a DVD or something streaming not watching some cable show. One way or the other I was as far away from cable as it could get. Paying for cable isn’t even worth the time when you can type almost anything into the internet and find it for free. Life and what technology has provided and it still is growing more and more every day.

I don’t know who watching Cable anymore but I do know that we are all grateful for Television and for the invention of cable. Without it we wouldn’t have expanded as far as we have when it comes to spreading news around. By moving to having computers and making the internet accessible on any device is a magical thing. Sure cable is nice to have and everything but honestly, it's so expensive and such a hassle to deal with. Its more money we spend on watching commercials and ads that we don’t even think are real ninety percent of the time. Money is just disintegrating with cable itself.

Do you still have cable?

Networks have made the price of their offerings too high. The "More in your face" attitude taken by advertising industry twenty years ago really amounts to psychological abuse, small wonder violence is on the increase..

Still have Dish but only because wife is on Chemo couch most of the time.
Turner Classic Movies is the only thing i can stomach.

Netflix is still worth it for those delightful British murder mysteries - Midsomer, Morse, Lewis, and Poirot.

Network News is snowflake territory i dont go there. Stephanopolous is only one small step above Rivera.

Congratulations Ms Sara on your great start in life.

Hi Sarah!

I've never had cable...the best I thought was living in Grosse Ile we could get the Ontario stations..many movies in French! That's the language I chose in HS and in College.

Ok to deviate? This is related to your artistic knowledge and wanting to use it as a profession... I am going to quote Bobbi Brown..makeup artist and entrepreneur.."OH, come on! Please. Do you think I had a clue how to start a makeup business? I didn't. Did I have a clue how to write a book? No. Do I have a clue how to do anything? I don't But I love doing what I don't know. It's likely that curiosity and passion have led to success" Sarah take advantage of your beautiful Dad's experiences...you have the option! Go for it!! Love Kelly

Have I ever? Oh, there was that year that I shared that in-town apartment with some classmates while attending college and one of my two roommates paid for cable service, since neither of the other two of us cared for it.

No, besides that, I never did have cable. I grew up with basic broadcast television with 4 or 5 channels--depending on the direction the wind was blowing--on the one set down in the family room which only really came on for Saturday morning cartoons and the weather report while dinner was being cooked. When I moved away, I did without television for the most part.

To be honest, I don't think I've even seen more than a couple hours (total!) of anything on a television set in the past five years, since I don't keep a set in the house. Now I have watched some old program episodes online to waste some time every so often. If they weren't available by some free uploads, I wouldn't have bothered with those, either, though. There's no way I'd pay for it. I can't help but see all the propaganda constantly being hurled at me whenever I do see anything playing, so the experience is not a fun one for me.

Browser warning is because there's no "https" option here.... some day Sarah may decide to add it (it does cost money, 'yanno) but it's not a big deal. You shouldn't use your BANK password for a comment account anyway, right? smiley
