So after the whole experience with climbing we had a hike planned for the next day. At UWF they have about 14 miles worth of hiking trails and let me tell you that they are a lot of fun....except for one thing. Spiders. ****ing Spiders everywhere. Now, I don’t mind Spiders when they are just living their best life. As long as they are not on me I am totally capable of ignoring them and not getting freaked out. Well Sadly I have learned that they don’t give a **** about where they put their webs. The week before this hike we went out and did a few miles and I almost ran straight into one. Literally. Luckily I stopped right before my face connected with this spider. This web was so thick that we couldn’t get anything to break it down so, we had to alter our path so that we could keep going.
This time around we were able to maneuver them and not run into any but let me tell you that they were all over the place. Of course this time I brought the camera and the good lense because as much as I hate spiders I do like pictures of them. They give off great detail and they make for some awesome photos. So we hiked along and every once in a while we stopped so I could get a few photos to mess with later on. As week hiked we also ran into a old car that is now unrecognizable. Apparently a lot of the hiking trails used to be parking lots for the campus and that really didn’t surprise me in the slightest. Anything can happen or change after all.
D tried his best to figure out what kind of car it was but unfortunately it was pretty beat up by good ol time and because of that we decided to give up and keep moving. It also should be noted that there were holes on the side of the car. We made a guess that someone must have been using it for shooting practice and that did not sit right with me. Not only are people walking around out here but it’s pretty thick forest so practicing shooting while were walking around is not something I want to be a part of.
So we continued on our way. The nice thing about the trails out there is that it’s really shaded which really helped us out with keeping us cool. The weather was about 100 degrees and about 40% humidity. It was hot and we both were sweating buckets. About a mile away from the finish we ran into some bikers who were just chilling and chatting. We said hello to them while we tried to figure out which direction to go in. The bikers made a joke to us while laughing a little "Yea were lost to" and we laughed with them. Once we found the right path we continued onward and said goodbye to the bikers but not before one of them complimented me on my half sleeve. I said thank you and kept moving.
I can say that it was a nice 4 mile hike and once we were both done we both needed a shower and some food. We were soaked with sweat and we both were looking forward to air conditioning. We had a fun time and I really enjoyed the experience all together. A little cranky at the end but that’s normal after a long day.
I can say that I had a wonderful weekend and it ended with some good memories, hot food, and a fun time sharing TV shows.
