Corner of the world

I used to walk a lot when I was in high school. My ex best friend at the time was terrible when it came to sleeping so we used to take nightly adventures all the time. They were fun and they often helped us sleep at night. We even got to stare at the stars while we walked a talked about all different kinds of subjects. Boys, the Universe, God, Mary Jane, family, animals, the sun, our pasts. Really they were nights where we learned more then we could have imagined about each other and it really gave us time to explore the land. In my neighborhood there’s a lot of little trails you can take and each one leads to the same place. An open field. It’s used to get to other parts of the neighborhood quickly and is good for soccer or walking your dog. It’s a nice little piece of the neighborhood that not many others have.

Really I enjoy it when I want some time to myself and often walk in there at night to watch the stars. It’s really open and quiet there and it’s a place that I grew up in. Its familiar and safe.

Last Night I was taking a walk around and I was thinking about our neighborhood and how much of the area around it has changed and I began to wonder about the trees and if they were going to cut them down for more houses or if they will leave them there. I wondered if this place would stay much longer at all. Our neighborhood is really nice and its very quiet where we live. It’s filled with lots of good families but recently the place has felt abandoned due to a lot of people selling. I wonder how this little corner  of the world will hold up to the future.
