Climbing

The thing about working at a gym is the fact that you get a lot of time to interact with the people there. You get to know them, you get to see their faces, you get to know their names and you get to have some fun while you are at work. Really it doesn't feel like you are on the clock most of the time and I am learning that being in a gym environment is different then any other job I have worked. Its been seven months since I started climbing and I can say that I know most people that climb at our gym. Well I say that but really I just know most of their faces. Truth be told, I am terrible with names.

Having this job, so far, is showing me that there are options out there. That there is hope to get away from the food and retail life. It is possible to change things up and do something different. Its pretty nice to have that option and honestly I am grateful for it so far. Its only been a week and a half but I think it has shown me a different side of life.

I don't know how long I will love the job. I don't know how long I will be working there. I don't know what the future holds for me by making this switch but I do know that I am enjoying it. I know the people there, I am treated really well and I am entertained day in and day out by who comes in. There never really is a dull moment. I mean you not only get to watch people do the routes but you also get to watch people fall and try different ways to get up the wall. Really that is one of the best parts about working at a climbing gym.

Lord have mercy for when someone does hurt themselves in front of me. I'm sure that will be one hell of a story when and if it comes my way.
