I'm not sure if this will be useful to anyone in any way but I discovered an easier way to get jams out of their containers. But first, let me explain.
So, every year I do a small donation to Goodwill. I go through all my belongings and decide what I do and don't want anymore. Ninety percent of the time I end up just getting rid of clothes but every now and then I will make my way to the kitchen to see if there is anything that needs to be donated in there. Over the past few years we have attained glasses (specifically pint glasses) and we just never use all of them and we have so many that they overflow to the countertop. To try and minimize the amount of stuff we have I end up going in there and add glassware to my bag. It doesn't happen too often but it is nice to do every once in a while.
Some times though I end up going through the fridge while I am making my rounds and more often then not I get stuck there. Usually, I find that our fridge has one or two things that are expired and as I was rummaging through I found three jams, one old pesto sauce, and some old salad dressing. Trying to figure out the best way to get the jams out without making a mess and fighting the product I thought "hmmm Maybe if I just fill it with water and let it sit, it will come apart and be easy to dump" but of course that takes time.
Instead, I filled it up with water, put the cap back on and shook it for a few minutes. As it turns out the jam comes right out. I did this with the dressing and the pesto and it worked like a charm. It was fast, easy, and not messy. I don't know if this will help anybody, or if it is of any significance to anyone out there but I thought it was a neat little trick. Of course, I could also be late to the show and you knew this piece of information already which means, it won't help in any way but, hey I thought I would put it out there just in case.
So if you are in need of a quick clean out then here is something that may help you get rid of those expired sauces, dressings, and jams quickly and efficiently
