Busy bees are back

Its been about nine months since I have started working at Kilwins. Really it has been quite the journey and I have learned so much. I have had so many great times and I love the people that we get to work with. Not only are the managers decent people but they actually care about what is going on. They care about us and making us happy. Even when it’s busy and we are slammed through all high heaven we know how to keep each other going and laughing. Really it’s quite amazing and it really helps to make the time fly by.

Yesterday was like that. There were so many of us and we were busy all the way until close. We had people out the door, jumping the line, screaming, hollering, singing, laughing, everything all at once. It was chaos and honestly I think we all kind of enjoyed it. The slow time was nice to breathe but we needed this rush. When you are running everywhere and serving for hours on end you really get to know a person. It makes you known to each other’s strengths and weaknesses and for the first time in months I saw so many weaknesses.

I was working on the waffle cones and we have quite a few new people. The space behind the counter is fully crowded and we are all yelling which way were going. Behind, Around, To the Left, To your right, up and above, to the scale, everywhere. I watched as the newer people struggled. I listened as everyone shouted out orders and kept everything aware of what my team needed. As a Waffle Cone Whisperer and someone who is not only working to make the perfect waffle cone but you also have to keep the back counter stocked.

It was very intriguing to see us all work in such speeds and see the new people struggle to keep up. They will catch on in no time but it reminds me of when I first started here and how in the future I won’t be here to see these things. I’ll be very happy of meeting my goals but I will be sad to leave this busy life of working in a magical ice cream shop/
