Yesterday my friend D and I went back to the rock wall to do some climbing. I can say that I now don't get as nervous and it is quite fun for me. Not only is it a good exercise but it is also quite the challenge. For the past three years I've been on my own fitness journey so for me to change it up and try new and challenging things, well it is quite an adventure. This is the third time we've climbed together and each time he has held up to the standard. The first time was bouldering. The second was top rope. Yesterday was a combination of the two.
At the college he goes to they have a gym where they have everything from basketball to fencing, to the gym, to rock climbing. It's a pretty decent size and the last time we tired to go to the rock climbing wall it was closed for the weekend .so this was the first time I got to give this wall a try.
The bouldering section is pretty low and there's not many routes you can do. So for me it was a goal to just make it across the wall without falling off .I can say that I can do half of the wall before I run into an issue and fall off. The top rope was more interesting and since I am not certified to belay at his school I was the only one that could really do the top rope. So I did two runs up the wall and I was successful at both. The height isn't an issue anymore and I can say that I am quite happy to be doing this new sport . It works the entire body and it is quite the challenge which I enjoy.
I never thought that I would get into climbing but here I am, once a week trying my best to climb and figure out my strengths and weaknesses .
Hopefully next time I can do the entire wall. Just got to keep going and working on that core.
