Pancakery

I love it when I get a chance to know someone better and have a one on one conversation. For me it gives me an opportunity to learn who they really are and to see that person for their true selves. So of course I made plans with my friend T. We have known each other for a few years but we never got a real chance to hangout and to chat and finally a chance came my way. We both happened to have a  Friday off and while we were chatting at work I asked if she would like to have some breakfast with me. Luckily I was able to get a spot and put it down on my calendar so that I wouldn’t forget.

Friday rolls around and we have a plan to meet up at this place called the Pancakery. First let me say that I didn’t know that this place even existed. When T messaged me about this place I had to backtrack for a second and take it in. I mean this sounded magical and I had never even known it existed.

When I got to this place I was immediately drawn in. It’s a cute little restaurant that has nice lighting, booths, tables and even a little area where they sell T-shirts, mugs and a couple other gadgets. I spotted my friend, we hugged and then sat down. Immediately the conversation started and we got to telling each other stories about our day, what our plans were and how we were doing. After we got through our normal introduction we started chatting about friends and family. Nothing crazy but just a nice little conversation about others that we know. Of course while we are waiting for our food we also ordered some amazing specialty drinks (Strawberry daqri and an irish Coffee)

Let me say that we had a lot of fun and even though it was breakfast and only an hour and a half I still felt like I had gotten to know her better and I felt good after I got to see her. Sometimes chatting with someone genuine and kind hearted can really ease the mind. When we paid and left the restaurant we stopped and took a quick picture together. After all pictures last a lifetime and let me tell you guys, we look cute af. It sounds strange to say that but, it’s not every day that a picture of me actually is normal and cute. Sometimes it takes four or five pictures before one even seems ok enough to be acceptable.

Sometimes you just need a moment with someone and for me it was nice to have a morning with someone who understands what I am going through and to just have a nice calm morning with. There was no hurry, no expectation for work, no nervousness, nothing like that, and just good ol fun with a wonderful person across from me.

It was just what I needed to start my day.
