Almost getting run over

I often run in my neighborhood and everywhere that’s within a 25 mile radius from there. A lot of places I still don’t know but there are a few back roads that I have ran on repetitively. SO when it comes to me staying in my neighborhood I am used to everything around me and I know all the neighbors and they know you as the runner and will often wave at you to let you know that they see you on the road. The only problem about where we live is that it’s pretty dark do to the lack of lights that turn on at night. A lot of people keep their homes dark and the lights off and that can create a creepy drive through the neighborhood at night. My friends often get lost and have to call me to direct them in the right direction.

One particular afternoon brought me to a particular event that had not happened yet. I was running down this circle in our neighborhood and I was getting into the groove when I saw the car ahead of me slowing down and they even moved over to the side a little more to give me some space. With that space and indication I kept on going at my pace and going straight ahead, no turning or anything. My course was set. I get in front of this driveway and I swear to god I thought the lady was going to hit me. I instinctively jumped a little to the side but kept running. I was freaked out a little and the lady was just staring at me like I offended her.

It’s funny because she was literally about to run me over with no hesitation.

Luckily I came back in one piece but I was pissed. Like she saw me from a far off distance and didn’t even think to slow down? Goes to show how little our attention span really is.
