Curiosity about Santa Clause

I have a thing about the holidays. I don’t hate them but I also don’t love them. When I was a kid Christmas was my favorite holiday. Why? Well it was mostly because I got to get presents from Santa Clause. Well my father had raised me to believe that Santa Clause was real and Somewhere between the ages of 6-8 I wanted to see Santa Clause. Of course I knew Santa Clause in the books. The big belly, the red suit, the beard, the Ho Ho Ho! but the most important thing, he came down the chimney. Now we have a fake fireplace. At the time I thought that it didn’t matter if the chimney was open to the outside world or not, Santa was going to come down that chute and into my house and bring me everything I wanted.

Believing that I could meet Santa I stayed awake....well I tried but I fell asleep in the middle of my mission. Of course I had to get up to go use the bathroom so I woke up right around midnight. Now my bathroom is connected to my room but you have to go through a sliding door. So I slide the door open, step into the cold bathroom and go and do my business. Now I was about to go back to bed when I heard this rustling. I had really good hearing as a kid. I could hear the slightest of noises and so me being curious, I went to the other door and  cracked it open. I kid you not I thought I saw Santa flash around and see me. I freaked out and ran back into my room. I thought I had ruined my chances of getting presents that year.

I was terrified. I remember laying in my bed waiting for something to happen. I thought that I would like black out because Santa saw me or, I would become an elf. I had no idea where it came from but I thought that. Soon enough I fell back asleep and when I work up the next morning I saw all the presents there, under the tree. It was weird and I don’t think I ever asked about that situation. I think I was scared that if I told my Dad that the presents would vanish or something. Really I had and still have a wild imagination.

Its strange the things we will believe as kids.
