Migraines

I don’t know how many of you out there have gotten migraines before but, I get them on a regular occurrence. Well I used to get them regularly. See Migraines are in no way shape or form like Headaches. A headache is controllable with some medication, lots of water and maybe some food. Migraines are uncontrollable beasts that tear you apart from the inside out. Your head feels like it is literally splitting into two pieces. You can’t really sit up because you get nauseous, if you swing your head to the side then you get blurry vision, and heaven forbid if the lights turn on. Your eyes feel like little fiery pits of hell and you just are begging for it to end. For most of my life I have gotten these migraines. I remember one of the worse cases I ever had. I woke up and couldn’t even move my eyes without my stomach doing a flip. My head was pounding and I felt like I had gotten into an accident or something. The minute I sat up I fell back down because of how much pain I was in. I had to tell my dad that I couldn’t go to school and it took him a bit to figure it out.

Here’s the thing though, if I can’t really see or keep my eyes open then there is no way that I can walk around school and learn anything at all. So of course, my dad called me out sick. The whole day I was locked in the darkness of my room feeling too miserable to do anything besides breathe. Every fiber of my being was begging for mercy and I wanted it all to go away immediately. I had never felt pain like I did then. I thought I was going to pass out from the feeling of my brain pulsating.

I don’t know how anyone can compare a headache to a migraine. If you don’t know what those feelings are like then you don’t have a migraine. It is a whole different level to have a migraine. Headaches are manageable to yes they do suck, but at least in a few hours it may go away and if its longer but it isn’t getting worse and you can functional things, for the most part, then it is just a headache. So if someone you know says they have a migraine, please be aware of how much pain they must be in when they have to cancel those plans or they can’t get tout of their bed. Migraine pain is real and it sucks, so please be aware of that when you get upset that they can’t make it because of a "migraine".
