I don’t know how many of you work customer service type jobs and regardless if you work them or not im gonna talk about this. The other day while I was at work I encountered one of those customers. You know the ones? They come up to you, can’t make up their mind, won’t shut up, some don’t even get off their phones or glance at you when they come in the store, those kinds of people. 

So my shift was almost over and these two guys come into my store. They have motorcycle helmets under their arms and wanted a sample of fudge. So I helped them out, got them the sample and went from there. After getting ice cream I stepped aside and let someone finish off some of the order. So I was staring off in space and just thinking when I hear one of the guys address me. 

"Gosh can’t you just smile!" 

Looking over the guys talking to me and making it very clear on how they didn’t like that I wasn’t smiling twenty four seven. So I turned to them and started having a tense conversation with them. Trying to keep myself under control I started with "Well I’m almost off work so....I mean" and shrugged and the guy took that in a mild manor. He pondered what to say back and said "Yea but it wouldn’t kill you to smile" 

I don’t deal with nonsense and I have a bad case of RBF (resting bitch face) so I turned to my closest coworker and pulled myself away from the situation. I really didn’t need to insulted and ridiculed just because I wasn’t smiling. If I kept going with the conversation I would have eventually snapped and told him to go stick it up his ***. I don’t have time to deal with people being rude. 

So next time your ordering something or in a store and talking to a person who works there, just try to be nice. You don’t know what they are going through and being flat out rude is just going to make them talk about you later. I don’t have time to deal with people like that and If I don’t have time for that then other workers in the customer service don’t have time for that sort of nonsense.
