Snowboarding

For the very first time I went snowboarding. No not skiing, snowboarding. For a long time snowboarding has been on my list and since I had five days off we made a last minute decision to go to Gatlinburg to give it a shot. Dad hadn't been skiing in 20 years and I of course had never been anywhere near a slope.

Knowing how I do on water skis and my memories of doing the splits I decided to go with something more comfortable. Once we got our equipment I decided to go ahead and do the class to learn how to work this board. My instructor first asked us if anyone had done wake boarding, skateboarding etc. I was the only one on my class that raised my hand. Really It was supposing considering there were a lot of people who were from Florida in the class. Keeping in mind my ability to distribute my weight I decide to take it like any other sport I have done.

For a while it was frustrating but after a lot of runs on the bunny slope I finally got the courage to step it up a notch. The green slope.

Let me just say that going down that slope was so nerve wracking and there was a lot of curse words and a few wipe outs but I successfully made it down and survived. In a way I felt more lucky then others when it came to having my dad to trail behind and keep a lookout on and make sure others didn't run into me.

We're gonna try again the next day and I hope to master the green hills and get down without wiping out. The sport is thrilling and I had a lot of fun doing it. I might even say that I will get addicted and I can certainly see it happening.

I can't wait for another chance and I can't wait to bring you the footage I get from our fun. If you have never been skiing or snowboarding then you should give it a shot. It's quite the experience.
