Wisconsin reroute

After I finished up at Shawanee National Forest I set off to my next destination in Minnesota. Originally I was going to go to this nation forest called the Superior National Forest all the way up at the top of the state. Somewhere along this drive I did the math and realized that if I wanted to get home and pay my bills that I was going to have to reroute myself to another destination. So I decided to go ahead and stay in Wisconsin and go to this place called Brule National Forest. It looked like it had some stuff to do and a few places that I could hike so with the reroute I quickly got to my destination. Once there I realized that Wisconsin makes you pay a **** ton of money just to stay the night in the forest itself. They not only charge you to stay at the campground but they also charge you to have the vehicle. The numbers quickly added up. Honestly it was quite disappointing to have that hit you in the face after a long drive.

With that in mind I decided to pay for one night instead of two and made camp. The campground was empty and I quickly made myself at home and went to bed. The next day I woke up to a freezing temperature of forty degrees. So waking up and getting ready took a little bit of time to do. For one I had to beat the cold and for another I also had to change. Getting up and quickly getting dressed for the day I got my camera gear, water, and of course a cup of some nice hot coffee.

Pack filled up and ready to go I started exploring the area. My first destination was the snow filled area behind the campground. Walking around I made my way down and got to the snow and like my inner wild child always does I got into the snow and started messing around. By then it wasn't that cold and I was wearing the right kind of clothes to keep myself warm and of  course I am one of those people that prefers the cold vs the heat. With the cold I can function and if I get too hot I can always take off a couple layers of clothes. With the heat it's not really like I can just take off a layer of skin. I mean there's no winning with the heat and the humidity.

As I started exploring the area I realized that there were a lot of places to go and explore but you needed to drive about twenty minutes to the different areas.  Not a problem but a lot of those areas also charge for you to be in the park.

Really Wisconsin is a very beautiful place but I felt like it was the wrong time for me to be there. A lot of the areas where you can stay for cheap were closed due to snow and ice and I really do think that there would have been more that I could have done but in honesty it takes time to get to these areas and I really only had a day and a half to go around and see what was around. NOt only that but if you drive diesel then you have to consider that the prices are through the roof. Almost $3.12 a gallon! Absolutely crazy. In Atlanta it's around $2.89 which is still quite high but it's more affordable but then what they were asking for up North.

So if you have the time, the money and the drive go to Wisconsin but be prepared to pay a hefty price to see all the things they have to offer.
